Tomasz Sikorski (1939–1988) was a Polish artist, philosopher-minimalist composer, and pianist, concerned with the meditative properties of his compositions. His 1979 artist’s book Autozapis [Autorecording] has not hitherto been performed as a graphic score. Sikorski assigned six tasks: to draw an object from memory with eyes closed, to draw the same object with eyes open, to take a photograph of the object, to draw from the photograph, to draw from memory with eyes open, and finally to draw with eyes closed.
The Vocal Constructivists performed Autozapis at the Stoke Newington Contemporary Music Festival and in a concert at Goldsmiths Hall, Senate House in 2015.
